How do I Make a Gameboy Color Into a Media Player?

Back in 2000, a device called the SongPro hit the market for GameBoy owners. The SongPro allows you to play MP3s and view photos on your GameBoy or GameBoy Color hand-held gaming system. If you're looking to add this kind of functionality to your GameBoy Color, you'll likely need to track one of these down on eBay or at a used game store. After that, though, using the SongPro involves just a few steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a SongPro device. You can find one using an online auction site like eBay, an online marketplace like Amazon or a used videogame store.

    • 2

Insert an SD card into the SD card reader on your PC.

    • 3

Open "My Computer" and double-click on the SD card drive to access your card.

    • 4

Start "Windows Explorer" and navigate to the location on your hard drive where you store your music.

    • 5

Use your mouse to drag and drop music files from your music storage location to your SD card. When finished, remove your SD card from your PC.

    • 6

Slide your SD card into the SongPro unit, then insert the SongPro into the cartridge slot on your Game Boy Color.

    • 7

Turn your Game Boy Color on. You'll now be able to browse through the music you put on your SD card. Use the D-Pad to select a song and press the "A" button to begin playing it.
