Zelda: The Minish Cap Hints

Princess Zelda is turned to stone in "The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap" for the Game Boy Advance, and Link's quest to save her involves the use of the Minish Cap, a talking hat named Ezlo. It's a vast game that is made easier by knowing a few tricks like the locations of bomb bags, bottles, heart pieces and rupees.
  1. Bomb Bag Upgrades

    • Link can find three bomb bags, which let you carry more bombs to use on your quest. Bomb the cracked wall on the Crenel Wall and then throw a bomb into the fountain. After you answer "Neither" to the two questions from the fairy, you'll have the first bomb bag. Buy the second bomb bag for 600 rupees at Stockwell's after you have already purchased the boomerang. Kinfuse with Belari in the Minish Woods by pressing the "L" button while standing next to him when you see a question mark by his head to find the third bomb bag.

    Easy Rupees

    • Rupees are the currency in "The Minish Cap," and you'll need them for all sorts of items. Dig directly to the left of the door to Link's house to discover 20 rupees; if you enter Link's house and come back out, you can repeat this as many times as you'd like. Play the treasure game at the Treasure Game shop and always choose the treasure chest on the right in the first room to win rupees; repeat as needed. Once you have the pegasus boots, use them to ram into walls with hanging masks, as you can get up to 20 rupees per mask. The library has four hanging masks and they respawn every time you return to the area, so just keep coming back in to collect rupees. Always go for green rupees when you see them, as these rare rupees are worth 50.

    Heart Piece Locations

    • Every four heart pieces collected gives you another heart on your energy bar; 44 pieces exist, but they are generally hidden. After you get Roc's cape, jump up and hit the bell in Hyrule to make a heart piece fall out. Using Roc's cape to jump over the bell will also give you a heart piece. Once you have flippers, go to Lake Hylia. Head to the pool to the left of Stockwell's house and dive down to get another piece. Find one to the right of the northern house in the Minish Village. Take the blue teleport in the Deepwood Shrine for another piece.

    Bottle Locations

    • Four bottles are available, and they allow you to store potions, ghosts and fairies; fairies have the ability to heal you after you run out of hearts. Buy the first bottle from Deku in the cave in Trillby Highlands. Go to Hyrule Town, shrink and enter the shop from Mama's Cafe. Grow bigger and take the bottle, and the man will instruct you to feed his dog. Go to Lake Hylia and feed the dog in the house for the second bottle. Fuse Kinsyones with Master Smith, then go to Eastern Hills and get the third bottle from a chest. Finish the Goron sidequest in the Eastern Hills to acquire the fourth bottle.

    General Tips

    • Cut all the grass, kill all available enemies and clear whatever dust you see; these actions give you rupees and uncover hidden items. Use the left shoulder button to give away stones and the right shoulder button to roll. Collecting heart pieces and wallet upgrades to increase your capacity for rupees gives you more room for error. Thoroughly explore any area where you're stuck; the answer is usually close by.
