How to Evolve Scyther in Firered

Turn off your Game Boy (have your friend do the same). Connect one end of the Game Boy Advance link cable to your Game Boy. Connect the other end to your friend&'s Game Boy. If you&'re using the Wireless Adapter, connect the Wireless Adapter on the top of the Game Boy Advance (have your friend do the same). Turn on the Game Boy.

Obtain the National PokeDex from Professor Oak after you have collected 60 or more Pokemon and defeated the Elite Four. Go to Professor Oak&'s Lab (in your hometown) to receive the PokeDex. For the Metal Coat, go to island "5" and use the in-game map to find the Memorial Pillar. Activate the Surf TM and surf to the right side of the island. Head south to the shore. The Metal Coat can be found along the edge of the shore. (This step can be skipped if you already have the PokeDex and Metal Coat).

Go to the second floor of any Pokemon Center in the game (have your friend do the same). If you&'re using the link cable, both of you must go to the Cable Club. If you&'re using the Wireless Adapter, you must both go to the Direct Corner. Select "Trade Center." Once your friend does the same, the screen will say "2P LINK." Press the "A" button.

Select Scyther from the list of Pokemon. Have your friend select any Pokemon to trade in return and both of you accept the trade. Once the process is complete, have your friend re-trade you the same Scyther. When you get it back, it will evolve into Scizor.
