An Easy Way to Catch Shiny Legendary Pokemon

From Pokemon "Gold" and "Silver" up to the latest versions of the game, shiny Pokemon can be caught in the wild. These Pokemon are the alternate color of their common counterpart and shoot out stars when released from their Poke Balls. They are extremely rare and therefore highly valuable to Pokemon enthusiasts and collectors alike. Trying to catch a shiny legendary Pokemon isn't much different than trying to catch a common shiny Pokemon in the wild. It requires a large amount of patience and preparation.

Things You'll Need

  • Pokemon game from Generation II ("Gold" and "Silver") or higher

Instructions

    • 1

Stock up on Poke Balls at the Mart before heading out into the wild. Have at least a dozen Poke Balls on you at all times while searching for shiny Pokemon. The last thing you want is to run out of Poke Balls once you've found a shiny.

    • 2

Enter any patch of tall grass and begin to pace. You have a one chance in 8,192 chance of running into a shiny Pokemon in generations II through IV of the game.

    • 3

Ride your bicycle through the tall grass to increase the amount of wild Pokemon you run into. In turn this will increase your chances of running into a shiny.

    • 4

Save your game immediately after running into a shiny legendary Pokemon if you fail to catch it. This will make it so that the next time you run into it in the wild, it will still be shiny.

    • 5

Use the Poke Radar you receive after completing the National Dex if you are playing Pokemon "Pearl," "Diamond" or "Platinum." This will reveal wild Pokemon in tall grass that you otherwise wouldn't have known were there. If the grass shakes and omits sparkles, there is a wild shiny Pokemon in the area.
