Things You'll Need
Instructions
Locate the six screws on the back of the Game Boy Color. Four of the screws are visible; two in the top corners and two on the side right about the middle section. The last two are in the battery compartment.
Use a small screwdriver with a head shaped like a star to unscrew all of the screws.
Separate the back case from the front case of the Game Boy Color. Remove the switch cap, so it does not get lost. When the front and the back casings are separated, the cap becomes loose.
Locate the gold bar on the top of the front case. This bar is responsible for the display function of the Game Boy.
Push the tabs by the gold bar that hold the board in place. Continue applying light pressure until the tabs are unlocked. Be careful not to damage the board when unlocking the protective tabs.
Locate the three screws at the bottom on the inside of the front casing. Unscrew these three to disconnect the mother board from the Game Boy Color.
Lift the mother board from the casing slowly. Damage to the mother board can cause overall damage and function of the Game Boy Color.
