How to Make Party Pokemon Shiny

A "party" is a group of up to six Pokemon that a Trainer carries with him. Shiny Pokemon were originally introduced in the second generation of Pokemon games (Gold, Silver). They are everyday Pokemon, but in alternate colors, and are extremely rare. While you can't make just any Pokemon you catch in the wild shiny, there is a small chance that you can catch Pokemon that already shine while walking through the tall grass.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

If you are searching for shiny Pokemon in generations II through IV of the game (Gold, Silver, Crystal, Pearl, Diamond, Platinum), venture through any patch of tall grass for an extended period of time. The game gives you a 1 in 8192 chance of running into a shiny Pokemon in the wild.

    • 2

Visit the Lake of Rage to battle Team Rocket for a one-time opportunity to catch a rare Red Gyarados. This Gyarados, which is only readily available in Gold, Silver, and Crystal, is considered to be a shiny Pokemon.

    • 3

Beat the Elite Four and complete the National Dex by viewing all Pokemon in the Sinnoh region if you are playing Pearl, Diamond, or Platinum. Visit Pal Park where Professor Oak will give you the Poke Radar.

    • 4

Walk into a patch of tall grass and activate the Poke Radar. Grass will shake near a Pokemon that you can battle. Look for shaking, sparkling grass to hone in on shiny Pokemon.
