How to Get Shiny Pokemon in FireRed

Shiny Pokemon were introduced to the Pokemon franchise in the second-generation Pokemon games. While they're ultimately no different from their regular versions (aside from the color and flashing animation when sent into battle), shiny Pokemon are both incredibly rare and highly sought after. The chances of finding a shiny Pokemon are 1 in 8,192. Getting a shiny Pokemon in the FireRed Version depends heavily on luck and patience.

  Decide which Pokemon you want as a shiny. Then determine where and how to find that Pokemon. Most Pokemon are found in caves or the tall grass in specific areas. Other Pokemon, such as legendary Pokemon, are only found after certain in-game events. Refer to the in-game Pokedex or an online guide to learn which Pokemon are in your game and where you can find them.

  Go to any Pokemon Mart and stock up on Pokeballs, Great Balls or Ultra Balls. Buy in bulk; you don't want to run into a shiny accidentally without the Pokeballs needed to catch it.

  Go to the area where the Pokemon you're hunting is most common. Wander in the tall grass of the area, or if it's a cave or the ocean just walk or swim around. You'll encounter plenty of wild Pokemon. You can choose to battle and beat these Pokemon or run; either way, it doesn't affect your chances of finding a shiny.

  Continue battling wild Pokemon until you encounter a shiny. There's no telling how long this will take because shiny Pokemon appear completely at random. Heal at Pokemon Centers when necessary. Keep alert and pay attention to the game. When you encounter a shiny, its color will be different from usual, and there will be a sparkling flash on the screen right before you send out your own Pokemon.
