How to Catch the Legendary Dogs on Pokemon Fire Red

The three legendary dog Pokémon---Raikou, Entei and Suicune---first appeared in "Pokémon Gold Version" and "Pokémon Silver Version." In "Pokémon FireRed Version" you'll have the chance to capture one of the legendary dogs. You'll need to trade with a friend to get the other two. The specifc dog Pokémon you'll have the chance to capture depends on which starter Pokémon you choose at the beginning of the game. Entei appears if you picked Bulbasaur, Raikou appears for Squirtle and choosing Charmander will get you Suicune. The legendary dog for your game will appear after you defeat the Elite Four.

Things You'll Need

Several Ultra Balls
Several max repels
Level 40 to 49 Pokémon equipped with "Hypnosis" or "Sleep Powder"
Level 50 or higher Pokémon equipped with "False Swipe"

Instructions

- 1
  Keep a Pokémon close to (but not at) level 50 and equipped with the "Hypnosis" or "Sleep Powder" attack at the front of your party.

  Use the max repel and walk around an area of tall grass where weaker Pokémon usually appear (such as the route between Pallet Town and Viridian City.) The repel will keep weaker Pokémon from attacking, meaning only the legendary dog will attack.

  Use "Hypnosis" or "Sleep Powder" as soon as the legendary dog appears to make it fall asleep.

  Switch to the Pokémon with "False Swipe" and use it to bring the legendary dog down to one hit point. Switch back to the sleep-inducing Pokémon.

  Use an Ultra Ball to capture the Pokémon. You may need to throw several Ultra Balls to capture it.

  Use "Hypnosis" or "Sleep Powder" again if the dog wakes up, and then continue throwing Ultra Balls until you capture the Pokémon.
