Hints & Cheats for Pokemon Fire Red for Gameboy Advance

̶0;Pokemon: FireRed Version̶1; for the Game Boy Advance is a remake of the classic Game Boy game, ̶0;Pokemon: Red Version.̶1; You start off as a young boy or girl with one of three starter characters and embark on a quest to catch as many Pokemon as you can while defeating gym leaders to earn badges and battle the evil Team Rocket. You may find you need the aid of special hints and tricks to get through the game and capture all the elusive Pokemon.
  1. Starter Pokemon

    • At the beginning of the game you̵7;ll be given a choice of three Pokemon: plant-type Bulbasaur, water-type Squirtle or fire-type Charmander. Bulbasaur will lend you an advantage in the first three gym battles but will be weak against bird Pokemon encountered early in the game. Squirtle will prove strong against the first gym leader, but will falter against the third. Charmander is weak against the first two gym leaders, but will prove especially strong against the wild Pokemon you̵7;ll encounter early in the game.

    Trade Pokemon

    • Some Pokemon can only be acquired by trading. These include Pokemon found only in "Pokemon: LeafGreen Version" as well as Pokemon that only level up via trade. Pokemon exclusive to "LeafGreen Version" include Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebel, Slowpoke, Slowbro, Slowking, Staryu, Starmie, Sandshrew, Sandslash, Vulpix, Ninetails, Magmar and Pinsir. You'll have to trade these with a friend who owns the "LeafGreen" version of the game. Additionally, the following Pokemon will only evolve when traded: Machoke will evolve to Machamp, Kadabra will evolve to Alakazam and Graveler evolves to Golem. Certain Pokemon evolve differently if holding an item when traded. Give a Slowpoke a King's Rock and it will evolve to Slowking when traded. A Dragon Scale will make Seadraw evolve to Kingdra when traded. A Metal Coat will make Scyther evolve to Scizor when traded. Use a King's Rock to make a Poliwhirl evolve to a Politoed.

    Legendary Pokemon Locations

    • Legendary Pokemon are those that only appear once in the course of the game, so you̵7;ll have to be sure to capture them on your first try to complete your Pokedex. You̵7;ll find three legendary bird Pokemon in ̶0;Pokemon: FireRed Version.̶1; All three will be at level 50 when you encounter them. Articuno dwells in the Seafoam Islands, Zapdos lives in the Power Plant and you̵7;ll find Moltres on Rainbow Island 1.

A level 70 Mewtwo will appear in the Unown Dungeon near Cerulean City after you beat the Elite 4. You can catch one of three legendary cats after beating the Elite 4 depending on which starter Pokemon you picked. If you picked Bulbasaur, you̵7;ll find Entei; if you picked Squirtle, you̵7;ll find Raikou, and if you picked Charmander, you̵7;ll find Suicune. All three legendary cats are level 50 and their location is random. Ho-Oh and Lugia are both found on Rainbow Island 8 and are level 70. Deoxys appears on Rainbow Island 9 and is level 30.
