How to Evolve a Slowpoke

One of the most dopey but lovable Pokemon in the game is Slowpoke. Pink and large in stature, this oblivious Pokemon not only knows a few water tricks, but it may surprise you with a couple of psychic moves as well. The second stage of Slowpoke, known as Slowbro, is by far an upgrade, with stronger moves and a larger hit point scale. In order to evolve Slowpoke into this Pokemon, however, you may need to do your fair share of training.

Things You'll Need

  • Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow or LeafGreen (Other games may need to trade for Slowpoke)
  • A Game Boy or GBA

Instructions

  1. Evolving Slowpoke

    • 1

Verify that your Slowpoke is under Level 37 (the level at which it evolves) before beginning your effort to turn it into Slowbro.

    • 2

Put Slowpoke at the beginning of your lineup so it is first in battle.

    • 3

Walk through tall grass in an area where you will run into wild Pokemon of approximately the same level as your Slowpoke.

    • 4

Use your Slowpoke to win battles against these wild Pokemon to gain the experience points you need to reach Level 37.

    • 5

Allow Slowpoke to participate in battles against other trainers you may come across en route. Even if you don't use it beat every opposing Pokemon, it will still gain valuable experience points for helping defeat the trainer.
