How to get the HM Waterfall in Pokemon Gold Version

Waterfall is one of the most useful attacks in Pokémon gold, coming in the form of a HM, you can teach any of your Pokémon an effective water-based attack. Not only is the attack a high-damage attack against normal Pokémon and also super effective against fire-type Pokémon, but it's also required if you plan on completing the game. A lot of people find the process of obtaining waterfall to be frustrating, the HM hidden away within one of the puzzle caves on Pokémon gold.

  Start by healing your Pokémon in the pokécenter at Mahogany Town, stock up on your pokéballs and a few potions and any traveling necessities you might need. Go east from Mahogany Town towards the lake, head along the path that goes above the lake and you'll find the cave's entrance.

  During your adventure through the cave, you will encounter a few new species of Pokémon. Some of the Pokémon you encounter are Zubat, Golbat, Swinub, Jynx and Oddish. Stay in the cave until you capture a Jynx, as this will be one of the only Pokémon that can put others to sleep with its sweet kiss.

  Once you make your way into the first portion of the cave, you'll come across a section of ground that's covered with ice. Start by going up. Once you hit the wall head left, next go down, then left, up, right, up and right. Now head down, left, up, left, down, right, down, right, up, and right. Off to the right, you'll find another batch of ice. To pass this one, find the highest portion of ice and head right, up, left, down, right, up, right, when you stop you'll be right next to the HM to teach your Pokémon waterfall, which will also allow you to ride waterfalls and make it to the next portion of the map.
