How to Get Squirtle in Pokemon Gold

Squirtle's evolution, Blastoise, is a decent water pokemon, with relatively high defense and fair offense stats. It can serve both as a tank and a sweeper due to the large move pool available to it. There is only one Squirtle, but getting it isn't hard.

Things You'll Need

  • Two Nintendo GameBoys
  • Connector Cable
  • Copy of "Pokemon Gold"
  • Copy of "Pokemon Red/Blue"

Instructions

  1. Getting Squirtle

    • 1

      Start a new game in "Pokemon Red/Blue."

    • 2

      Choose Squirtle when Professor Oak offers you a pokemon.

    • 3

      Connect the two GameBoys, one with your copy of "Pokemon Gold" and the other with Red/Blue.

    • 4

      Go to any poke-center and go to the trading center.

    • 5

      Trade your Squirtle from your copy of Red/Blue to your copy of Gold.
