How to Get a Black Charizard in Pokemon

Nintendo's Pokemon games allow you to catch a wide variety of pokemon to raise battle against other trainers, enter contests, and win badges and ribbons. For the shrewd collector, it is often not enough to simply catch all of the pokemon, you must collect the rarest of the rare. In Generation IV, (Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum) you can get a Black Charizard. These differently colored species, or "shiny type" pokemon are very rare and hard to come by, with an encounter chance of only 1 in 8,192.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase at least one pokeball, preferably more as you will likely encounter any number of both "shiny" and regular Pokemon.

    • 2

Travel to Pal Park, this is where the widest variety of pokemon live. In the Field area near the entrance to Pal Park up to 123 different pokemon can be caught, including charizard.

    • 3

Walk in the tall grass until you encounter a pokemon, if it makes a tinkling sound when you enter the battle, then you've encountered a rare "shiny" pokemon that will have alternate coloring.

    • 4

Keep fighting or running away from the pokemon you encounter in this grassy area, eventually you will come across Charizards and with luck, a "shiny" one that you can capture.

    • 5

Use your pokemon to weaken the Black Charizard when you encounter him and throw your pokeball once he is below half health. This will capture your new Black Charizard.
