The pokemon Treecko is the perfect choice if you enjoy working with grass-type creatures and since it’s the only chance you’ll have to grab one in these games you should make it count.

Instructions

  1. How to Use Treecko

    • 1

Choose Treecko. When you are in Littleroot Town at the beginning of the game, you’ll be able to choose from among three pokemon. You can look at all three possibilities before making your final selection.

    • 2

Battle with Treecko. Keep Treecko in your team and work on leveling him up. He will start off with only two attacks: pound and leer. Because leer only lowers an opponent’s defense, you will use pound primarily during most battles. Keep working with him though. At level 6, he’ll learn Absorb and at level 11 he’ll be able to use Quick Attack.

    • 3

Evolve Treecko. If Treecko continues leveling up, he will evolve for the first time at level 16. He will evolve into Grovyle. When Grovyle hits level 36, he’ll evolve into Sceptile.

    • 4

Teach Treecko HMs. Hidden Moves are very useful during the game and are often necessary to continue. Treecko can learn four of these moves: cut, strength, flash, and rock smash. Of these four, cut is the most important because it can help you move through different map areas and attack opponents.

    • 5

Use Treecko’s Overgrow Ability. This ability can make grass-type pokemon 1.5 times stronger when they have only one-third of their health left. If you’re facing a tough enemy, this ability can give you the edge to emerge victorious.

    • 6

Choose TMs for Treecko Wisely. Throughout the game, you’ll find TMs that Treecko and his evolved forms can use. Teach Treecko the ones that will be the most useful and powerful during battles, including Giga Drain, Solarbeam, and Rest.

    • 7

Reach the final battle. If you choose effective TMs and support Treecko with a balanced team, you should be able to reach the final battle. Use Giga Drain against opponents who are weak against grass. Slam is useful against any opponents who are susceptible to physical attacks. If you’re weak and need to avoid a hit, use Detect. However, don’t use Detect more than twice in a row or it will be less likely to work.
