Cheats to Get the Mega Hammer in Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The "Megaton Hammer"

• The "Megaton Hammer" is the ancient hammer that, according to the legend in the game, was used to silence the character "Volvagia." It is found in the "Fire Temple" level of the game, and you must defeat the "Flare Dancer" mini-boss before you can reach it. It is well-hidden so you must know where to look for it in the "Fire Temple."

Defeat the "Flare Dancer"

• This method helps you to beat the "Flare Dancer" mini- boss. Use your hookshot weapon to pull the dancer out of his burning clothes. Aim your hookshot at the square crest on his chest. Only when you hit the square crest will the dancer be pulled out of the burning clothes. When he is out of his clothes, hit him with your sword as many times as you can. The dancer will try to run away but do not chase him. Just charge up a spin slash attack and use it when he gets near you. Keep repeating this process until the dancer is dead.

Obtain the "Megaton Hammer"

• Once the "Flare Dancer" is dead, the pillar he first appeared on will lower. Jump on top of it and you will be carried into a new room. Go through the door, climb up the grating and drop a bomb onto the crystal you see so it explodes. Climb up some more grating and go through the door. Ignore the large switch and climb up to the smaller switch. Beat the "Fire Keese" and step onto the smaller switch. The fire surrounding a chest will lower. Quickly climb the stairs to reach the chest. Open the chest and you will be rewarded with the "Megaton Hammer."

"Megaton Hammer" Uses

• The Megaton Hammer can be used for a variety of different things. Once you have it, equip it immediately because you will need it to finish the "Fire Temple." With the "Megaton Hammer" you can smash through panels, pillars, and hit switches that you would normally not be able to move. You will also need it to defeat the boss called "Volvagia," a subterranean lava dragon.
