How to Use an Action Replay Max EVO

The Action Replay Max Evo is a cheat device for the Sony PlayStation 2, composed of a CD full of cheat codes and a custom-designed code storage device that can transfer cheat codes between the PlayStation 2 and a PC on which the cheat code software has been loaded. In this way, the device incorporates a database of thousands of codes on CD, as well as a means of updating your code list with codes for new games and new codes for existent games.

PlayStation 2 memory card

Instructions

  Insert a memory card into a free slot on your PlayStation 2 and open the disc tray.

  Insert the Action Replay Max Evo disc into the console and wait for the device's software to boot. The home screen, which should load in 5 to 10 seconds, reads "Insert Game Disc or DVD Now."

  Open the disc tray and insert a PlayStation 2 game. Wait for the cheat selection screen for your game to load, then activate cheats by navigating the screen with the D-pad and selecting your desired cheats with the "X" button.

  Press "Start" to launch your game with the cheats activated.

  Load added cheats to your device by inserting the Action Replay Max Evo memory card into the USB port of a computer running the Action Replay software. This software comes on a separate CD with purchase of the device. Launch the software and click "AR Max Code List," then drag the icon for the code list to the "Max Drive" icon in the left pane of the software.

  Insert the Max Evo device into a free memory card slot of your PlayStation 2, and connect a PlayStation 2 memory card to the other slot. Turn the system on and launch the software by inserting the Action Replay Max Evo disc as usual. When you insert a game, you will now have a fully updated list of codes to choose from.
