Championship Bonus Drivers
"NHRA Championship Race" has several hidden bonus drivers which are unlockable through game play. To unlock these drivers, you must win a season in the game's career mode while driving specific types of cars.
Drive the top fuel funny car to unlock Don Prudomme or Jim Dunn, the top fuel dragster for Don Garlits or Kenny Bernstein and the pro stock car to unlock Jeg Coughlin Jr. Driving with an unlocked bonus driver may give you an edge on some of the tougher courses.
Tune the Top Fuel Circuit
Each of the three racing circuits of "NHRA Championship Race" is slightly different, and each has its own perfect approach. Weather conditions play a large role in how the car will react to the track, so tweak the car to get that winning edge.
For "bad" and "average" track conditions, set clutch 1 to .15s (31 percent), clutch 2 to .74s (59 percent) and the final clutch to 2.37s (100 percent). The compression ratio should read 6:43:1, and the overdrive should be placed at 41.85. The initial fuel flow should be 64 percent, fuel flow 1 at 93 percent, fuel flow 2 at 95 percent and the final fuel flow at 100 percent. Set the tire pressure to 5.8 PSI and the front ballast to 91 lbs. The right wing angle should be 6 inches, the left wing angle 1.1 inches.
High, good and average tracks need slightly different adjustments. Put clutch 1 at 36 percent, clutch 2 at 72 percent and the final clutch at 100 percent. The primary weight should be 100 grams, the secondary weight 398 grams. Set the overdrive to 44.8 percent, the engine spark at 59.8 degrees and the compression ratio to 6.50:1. The ideal tire pressure on these tracks is 6.9 PSI, with a front ballast of 103 lbs.
Pro Stock Car Tuning
