Hints & Cheats on Mortimer Beckett & the Time Paradox

"Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox" is the second game in the Mortimer Beckett series. The goal is to find hidden objects but it also contains puzzles. In this game, Mortimer has to close a time portal before it destroys the world. His uncle created a time bomb to close the portal. The bomb got sucked into the portal, and split into dozens of pieces. Mortimer has to find all of those scattered pieces to accomplish his mission.
  1. Look for the Gear Shift

    • Unlike most hidden objects games, you have to use the objects you find. Every item serves a purpose. If you find a trash can lid, there̵7;s a trash can somewhere in the game waiting for a lid. Putting the lid on the can will make something happen and move you closer to winning. But, how do you find these areas? If you put your cursor over an area and a gear shift appears, it means you have to use one of the found items in that spot. These areas are hidden throughout the game.

Search One Location at a Time

    • The items you need to find are splintered into small pieces. The pieces are scattered throughout the game. To save time, search each location thoroughly before moving elsewhere. Go to a new location only when there are no more pieces where you are. Click the hint button. If there̵7;s another piece in your current location, the area will shimmer. If there aren̵7;t any pieces left, you̵7;ll get a hint about where to go next.

    Keep Track of Your Locations

    • There are various scenes within the game, and each one takes place in a different location. Remember, the items you have to find are broken into numerous pieces. Although the items appear whole on your list, they are not whole in the scene. If you get stuck and can̵7;t find a piece, it probably means you should go somewhere else. There will be times when you need to solve a puzzle in one location, but what you find there will help you locate a missing piece in another location.

    Watch for Tricky Puzzles

    • Puzzles are hidden throughout the game. You have to figure out how to solve them in order to move forward. For instance, you might need to get a key out of a locked jar. You might give up and move on to something else. But later, you come across a locked door that must be opened.

You won̵7;t get a hint about where to find the key. You̵7;ll have to rely on your own memory to recall the location of the key locked in the jar. When you find it, you'll use one of your found items to get the key out. If you have no way of getting into the jar, that means you have to keep playing until you find an item to open or break the jar.
