Pre-Sewers Preparation

• Understanding a dungeon's environment is a major part of successfully making your way through it. The Meltokio Sewer is teeming with enemies that are able to poison your characters, which makes navigating this dungeon even more troublesome. To combat enemies, bring along a healthy amount of Panacea Bottles. It is also a good idea to have Raine in your party so that she can cast "Recover" to heal poison.

Solving the Garbage Puzzle

• Solving the dungeon-long garbage block puzzle is challenging. Moving the blocks into position to work as bridges and stoppers can get tiresome because it can be a matter of trial and error. But if you pay attention to the location of holes in the barriers around the higher floors, then you can minimize trial and error. Often these openings are placed directly over where the garbage blocks need to go, though there are some exceptions in the last part of the dungeon. It is important that you keep track of where you have already pushed through your blocks.

Miniature and Regular Sizes

• It might sound simple, but a major part of this dungeon's puzzle involves switching between your miniature and regular sizes. To do this effectively, pay close attention to the floor panels that change you back to regular size when you walk over them when you are miniature. This will make you more likely to complete the steps of the garbage block puzzle on your first try. This is especially true on the narrow catwalk in the second room, where you need to move the block along this walk by using the floor panels to switch between your regular and miniature sizes.

Level Grinding

• The dungeon-specific power of the Sorcerer's Ring in the Meltokio Sewers shrinks you down to miniature size. When you are this size, you can only fight giant Sewer Rats. These rats have slightly more experience than their regular-sized counterparts and cannot poison you, which makes fighting them easier than fighting the snakes and spiders in this dungeon. Clearing the rats out of this dungeon when miniature gives you good experience, but you can gain even better experience on the highest level of this dungeon's first screen. You can find a single Sewer Rat that will re-spawn when you enter in a hole in the wall near the garbage compactor.
