Action Replay Max Troubleshooting

The Action Replay Max is a device that allows you to modify GameCube games with cheat codes to alter how they are played. Some codes are used to give you an advantage to make games easier to beat, while others are just to see unusual effects in game play. It is possible, however, to run into problems when using the Action Replay. Fortunately, there are some simple solutions to these glitches.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Action Replay card from the GameCube's "B" memory slot if the "Hardware Not Detected" message displays. Reinsert the card and try to boot up Action Replay again. If the problem persists, the Action Replay is defective and must be replaced.

    • 2

Cut down on the number of codes activated if a game crashes frequently during play. Having too many codes active at once can overwhelm a game.

    • 3

Select the "Options" menu if the Action Replay does not save codes you enter. If "Auto Update" is set to "Off," change it to "On." If you keep the setting at "Off," you must select the "Update Hardware" option every time you enter a new code for the Action Replay to save it.

    • 4

Double-check that you have entered codes correctly if they do not work. Even one wrong letter or digit causes a code to fail. If that does not help, look up the code on codejunkies.com, which is the only site Action Replay guarantees has the correct codes. If the code is not listed there, it does not exist for the game.
