Dragon Ball: Budokai 2 for the Nintendo GameCube is a fast-paced 3D fighting game featuring the cast of the popular Dragon Ball anime series. The game features a huge number of playable characters, and a similarly large number of stages to battle across. New to the series, Budokai 2 features a fully fleshed out single-player story mode, which adds an engrossing plot and history for the many unique battles taking place within the game. You can unlock a number of hidden characters and special stages by meeting specific conditions within the new story mode to experience the true depth of this title.

Unlockable Characters
- In order to unlock the hidden characters in the game, you'll need to beat certain story battles with specific characters. When you use the appropriate characters in battle, you'll see extra plot conversations before and after battle, and you will unlock the new character upon winning the fight.
  
  To unlock Android 16: beat Android 16 with Goku.
  To unlock Android 17: beat Android 17 with Piccolo.
  To unlock Android 18: beat Android 18 with Krillen.
  To unlock Android 20: beat Android 20 with Goku.
  To unlock Cell: beat Cell with Goku.
  To unlock Frieza: beat Frieza with Goku
  To unlock Future Trunks: beat Vegeta on Namek with Kid Trunks.
  To unlock Ginyu: beat Ginyu on Namek with Vegeta.
  To unlock Hercule: beat Fat Buu with Great Saiyaman Stage 6.
  To unlock Recoome: beat Recoome with Goku.
  To unlock Saiyaman: beat Cell with adult Gohan.
  To unlock Vegeta: beat Vegeta with Goku on Namek.
  To unlock Videl: beat Super Buu (Gohan) as Hercule Stage 8.
  To unlock Yamcha: beat Nappa with Tien.
Hidden Capsules
- Capsules are moves and effects that your fighters can use during battle; many capsules can be purchased or won throughout the normal game. However, there are a few ultra-rare capsules that can only be obtained by meeting specific conditions.
  
  To unlock the "Super Spirit Bomb" capsule, defeat Kid Buu with Goten in Stage 8.
  To unlock the "Super Kamehameha Wave" capsule, defeat Kid Buu with adult Gohan in Stage 8.
  To unlock the "Babidi's Mind Control" capsule, defeat Majin Vegeta, Majin Cell or Majin Frieza in Stage 5 or Stage 6.
  To unlock the "Super Saiyan 2" capsule for Goku, defeat Vegeta in Stage 5 with Goku.
  To unlock the "Super Saiyan 3" capsule for Goku,defeat Majin Buu in Stage 6 with Goku.
  To unlock the "Strongest Of The Universe" capsule, beat Dragon World on Z2 difficulty.
Other Hidden Unlockables
- There are also a number of additional hidden unlockable items such as increased difficulty modes, special options, new costumes and hidden stages. Similar to the previous cheats, these unlocks will require you to meet specific conditions in battle in order to obtain them.
  
  To unlock "Z" Difficulty Mode, complete Dragon World on Very Hard mode.
  To unlock "Z2" Difficulty Mode, complete Dragon World on Z mode.
  To unlock the "Toxic Chocolate" transformation item, get 7505 kili in Babidi's Spaceship.
  To unlock the "Human Candy" transformation item, get 7175 kili in Babidi's Spaceship.
  To unlock the "Dabura Cookie" transformation item, get 6790 kili in Babidi's Spaceship.
  To unlock Majin Buu's special "Angry Explosion" transformation item, get 6185 kili in Babidi's Spaceship.
  To unlock Dabura's special "Demonic Will" transformation item get 540 kili in Babidi's Spaceship.
  To unlock Krillin's special "Fierce Destructo Disc" transformation item, defeat Super Buu on Stage 8 or Kid Buu on Stage 9 with Krillin.
  To unlock Piccolo's special "Hellzone Grenade" transformation item, defeat Kid Buu on Stage 9 with Piccolo.
  To unlock Vegeta's special "Big Bang Attack" transformation item, defeat Kid Buu on Stage 9 with Vegeta.
  To unlock Hercule's special "Present For You" transformation item, defeat Super Buu on Stage 8 with Hercule before Gohan uses "absorption."
