How to Beat Ingo in 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time'

"The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" is a fantasy adventure game. Over the course of the game, you will acquire weapons, armor and dozens of items. You will even get the fastest horse in Hyrule, a mare named Epona. To get her, you must out-race the owner of Lon Lon Ranch, a man named Ingo. Beating him will challenge your racing skills, though if Ingo proves too difficult, you can out-think him rather than out-race him. The trick is to use your carrots at the right moment. Each one offers a small speed boost that can put you in the right position to block Ingo's advance.

Instructions

    • 1

Feed your horse a couple of carrots right at the beginning of the race. This will put you ahead of Ingo.

    • 2

Remain close to the walls, but do not ride immediately next to them. If you are too close, you will risk getting yourself trapped in a corner, causing Epona to rear. You will lose a lot of time, and most likely, you will also lose the race.

    • 3

Retake the lead if you lose it before reaching the straightway. If Ingo has a good lead on you, feed Epona several carrots in a row. This will give you a big boost so that you can overtake your rival.

    • 4

Position Epona in front of Ingo. If he tries to get around you, block his path. Continue to block his way until you reach the end of the straightway.

    • 5

Feed Epona the remaining carrots as you race down the final stretch. You should beat Ingo with plenty of time to spare.
