How Do You Get the Key for the Clockwork Room in Luigi's Mansion?

In "Luigi's Mansion," the player must move around a haunted mansion and capture ghosts with a vacuum cleaner in order to rescue Mario. The final boss of the game is located in Area 4 of the mansion. In order to reach the boss, you must gain access to the roof through the secret Clockwork Room located in the attic. To get into it, you must obtain the key from an area in the basement.

Instructions

  Enter Area 4 as your normally would. Go to the wardrobe room, where you will see Grimmly the ghost floating near the mirror. Stand in the corner of the room. Turn away from the ghost and he will turn around. Flash him with the light and vacuum his heart to capture him.

  Go to the chest that appears and open it to get a key. This key will unlock the breaker room that is down the hallway from the room that you are in now. Go to this room and open the door with the key. Go to the back wall and flip the switch to restore power to the mansion.

  Open the chest that appears to get the cellar key. Ignore the ghost that shows up and simply exit the room. Go to the door across the hallway and open it with the cellar key to access the basement.

  Defeat the money ghost hiding in the pile of trash near the door with the flashlight and the vacuum. Move into the room and vacuum up the piles of dust on the floor throughout the room.

  Vacuum the two purple ghosts that appear after you collect the dust. The lights will come on and a chest will appear with the Clockwork Room key inside it. Open the chest to get the key.
