Select the "Customize" option from the main menu. This allows you to customize your pilot's emblem and create new machines.
Select the "F-Zero Shop" option, then go to the "Custom Parts" menu. This shows you the inventory of available parts, which you can use to build a new machine or customize an existing one. Purchase the parts you want with credits earned from racing. If you don't have enough money, go back to Story Mode and race until you have more money.
Back out of the F-Zero Shop and return to the "Customize" menu. Select the "Garage" option. This shows you the available parts you can use to build a new machine. Choose the body, booster and cockpit parts you purchased earlier to customize your pilot's machine.
Return to the "Customize" menu and go to the "Emblem Editor" screen. Use the tools on the left side of the screen to draw a custom emblem for your pilot. You can draw freehand or choose from a variety of stock shapes. The color palette is on the right side of the screen -- use this to change the color of your emblem. You can choose stock colors or use the adjustable bars to make custom colors.
Go back to the garage. Select the "Change Color" option. This allows you to change the color of all three parts of your pilot's custom machine. Slide the color bars around to create your own color.
Return to the garage and select the "Attach Emblem" option. From here, you can add up to four emblems to each part of your pilot's machine. Attach any of the stock designs or add the custom emblem you created earlier. Use the controls displayed on the screen to adjust the placement and size of each emblem.
