Weeds
Weeds in "Animal Crossing" are as pervasive and annoying as they are in real-life gardens. They pop up unexpectedly, sometimes a few times a day. If you leave your town unattended for a few weeks, when you return, it is filled with weeds. Come to your town every day and inspect each acre for weeds. If you see a weed, pull it out. The wishing well will let you know if you have a weed problem.
Garbage
A single piece of trash in your town makes it imperfect and ineligible to get the Golden Axe. There are three types of trash -- boots, tires and cans. You usually find these items on your hook while fishing, or a rude neighbor might send one to you in the mail. Take the trash to Nook's store and sell it. You won't get any money, but he gets rid of it for you. Avoid putting trash in the recycling bin. The wishing well still counts this as trash in the town.
Trees
Your town can have too many trees, or too few. Listen to the wishing well to hear its thoughts on how many trees you have. If any trees are touching, cut one down. If there are not enough trees, plant one in each acre until the wishing well is satisfied. If you find any tree stumps or dead saplings, use your shovel to dig them up. Pat the soil with the shovel to fill it with dirt and grass.
Getting the Golden Axe
The wishing well lets you know when you have a perfect town with a message that says "Everything is perfect!" For the next 15 days, do not plant or cut down any trees. Keep getting rid of trash and plucking out weeds. After 15 days have passed, a strange creature named Farley comes to your house with the Golden Axe, congratulating you on your efforts in the town.
