How to Get Dark Lugia

The monstrous Shadow Lugia is the most difficult Pokemon to snag in "Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness." The evil Cipher organization has been corrupting Pokemon with dark shadow energy, with a heavily infected Lugia as their secret weapon. Players of "Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness" get a chance to take Shadow Lugia from Cipher's leader at the end of the game. Hopefully you saved the Master Ball given to you earlier in the game, as this is a difficult beast to capture.

Instructions

  Get to Greevil's dome lair at the end of "Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness" and reorder your Pokemon team with your two strongest monsters in the first two slots. Shadow Lugia is so immensely strong the game allows you to battle it with two Pokemon at a time. Enter the final elevator to fight Greevil and his Shadow Lugia. Upon arrival, he will brag about Shadow Lugia as the ultimate weapon and send it to attack your Pokemon.

  Use the Master Ball on Shadow Lugia if you still have it. The Master Ball will instantly capture any Pokemon, regardless of how strong it is. There aren't any Pokemon more difficult to snag than Shadow Lugia in "Pokemon XD Gale of Darkenss," so you should use it now.

  Attack Shadow Lugia with Rock, Electric, Dark, Ghost or Ice-type attacks to severely hurt it if you have already used the Master Ball earlier in the game. Your goal is to lower Shadow Lugia's health bar from green to red without knocking it out and to snag it with another type of Pokeball. Heavy Balls, Ultra Balls and Timer Balls are all suited for snagging Shadow Lugia.
