How to Breed Chao

In "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle," you create and raise a garden full of virtual pets, called Chao. Using special objects and training, it is possible to give your Chao a variety of different abilities. As you train your Chao, it slowly matures, and eventually enters mating season. Putting two Chao together when one is in mating season lets you get a Chao egg. This is the best way to increase the amount of residents living in the Chao Garden.

  Give two of your Chao skill-boosting items, like chaos drives and small animals. Both of these are found by playing any level in the game.

  Wait for your Chao to enter cocoons, meaning they are about to evolve into adults. This happens more quickly if you wait in the garden for a few hours. If possible, leave the game running overnight. In the morning, your Chao are very likely to have evolved.

  Continue giving the Chao skill-boosting items until one of them enters mating season. A Chao is in mating season when it sits down and a ring of flowers appears around it.

  Give a Chao a Heart Fruit if you don't want to wait for it to enter mating season. Heart Fruits are available from the Chao Black Market for 300 rings. As soon as you give it to a mature Chao, that Chao instantly enters mating season.

  Bring the second Chao to the Chao who is in mating season. If the second Chao is interested, music plays, and the two Chao do a dance. Afterward, an egg appears.

  Shake or throw the egg to hatch it, revealing a baby Chao. You are also able to wait until the egg hatches on its own.
