How to Find the Second Crystal Star

"Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door" is a role-playing installment of the Super Mario Brothers franchise developed for the Nintendo GameCube. The game follows Mario's quest as he tries to rescue Peach from the X-Nauts, with the main overarching objective being the retrieval of seven Crystal Stars. The sequence to retrieve the Emerald Star, the second of the seven Crystal Stars, is a step up in difficulty from the first one, and may prove a bit daunting on your first time through the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Speak with Dr. Frankly in Rougeport after you have obtained the first Crystal Star. You will learn that the Emerald Star is in the Great Tree in Boggly Woods.

    • 2

Travel through the Rougeport Sewers until encountering Punio. After a brief conversation, he will lead you along the path to the Great Tree.

    • 3

Fight the enemies you encounter, and heal yourself as necessary while following Punio.

    • 4

Talk to Punio once you reach the base of the tree. He will tell you that you need to speak to Madame Flurrie.

    • 5

Follow the path to Madame Flurrie's house. Talk to Madame Flurrie through the door and she will tell you that she wants her necklace back before she leaves the house to help you.

    • 6

Backtrack on the path toward Boggly Woods until you encounter the Siren Sisters and trigger a miniboss battle. Defeat them using Gombella's headbonk attack. They will drop the necklace after the battle is over.

    • 7

Return to Madame Flurrie's house and leave the necklace by the door. She will join your party. Take her to the Great Tree and she will open the entrance for you.

    • 8

Make your way to the top of the tree and battle Magnus Von Grapple. Use Flurrie's Gale Force and take out his arms immediately when he detaches them to make short work of the boss. After defeating Von Grapple, you will be rewarded with the Emerald Star.
