Super Smash Bros Melee: How to Unlock the Guys

In "Super Smash Bros. Melee," it's a free-for-all brawl between some of Nintendo's most well-known characters. From the beginning of the game, characters like Mario, Pikachu, Kirby and Donkey Kong are available for you to use. However, there are many other characters that can be unlocked if you manage to fulfill certain criteria. When you meet those conditions, the character may be unlocked automatically, but sometimes, he appears to challenge you. If you defeat him in battle, he joins the fighter's roster.

Instructions

- 1
  Unlock Luigi by playing the Adventure Mode. As you play, defeat your opponent when there is a "2" in the seconds meter of the timer. After the battle, you must fight Luigi to obtain him. Alternatively, play 800 versus matches to unlock him.

  Unlock Dr. Mario by winning the one-player Classic Mode while using regular Mario. You're able to use any amount of lives and can set the game to any difficulty, but you cannot use a continue. Another way to get Dr. Mario is by playing 100 versus matches.

  Unlock Jigglypuff by completing either the Classic or Adventure mode with one player. You can use any difficulty and character that you want. Alternatively, beat 50 versus matches to obtain Jigglypuff.

  Obtain Falco by winning the 100-Man Melee mode. After this, Falco appears to battle you. Win the fight to obtain him. Alternatively, win 300 matches to get him.

  Unlock Ganondorf by winning Event 29 in the Event Match category. Defeat him in battle to add Ganondorf to the roster. You're also able to obtain him by winning 600 versus matches.

  Unlock Pichu by beating Event 37 in the Event Match Mode, and then defeat him in battle. You can also win 200 versus matches to get Pichu.

  Get Marth by playing in Classic or Versus mode with each of the 14 beginning characters. These are the characters that you start the game with. You must then defeat him to obtain him. Another way to get him is by winning 400 versus matches.

  Unlock Roy by using Marth to win Classic Mode on any difficulty. Then beat him in battle. Alternatively, win 900 matches to unlock Roy.

  Get Young Link by winning Classic Mode with 10 different characters. You can set the game to any difficulty. Beat Link when he appears to challenge you. Or, win 500 versus matches to get him.

  Get Mewtwo by playing for at least 20 hours in versus mode, and then fight him. This does not need to be done in one sitting. The game logs your play time each time you play. Alternatively, win 700 versus matches to unlock Mewtwo.
- 11
  Unlock Mr. Game and Watch by winning both Adventure and Classic mode, or the Target Test, with every other character in the game. After fulfilling this requirement, he appears to fight you. Mr. Game and Watch is also unlocked by winning 1,000 versus matches.
