How to Case Mod Your Gamecube Controller

The Nintendo GameCube's oddly shaped controller made it awkward to play many games like "James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire." What some gamers did to make their game-playing experience better was to mod the controller's yellow joystick button. This small button did not provide the user with much control, making precise movements very hard to perform. By modding the controller, a larger, more precise gray joystick button can be put into the yellow joystick button's place to increase its performance.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the GameCube controller from the GameCube system.

    • 2

Turn the controller over. Unscrew the screws on the back of the controller with the Phillips screwdriver. Pull the back plate off slowly so you do not damage the controller's electronic components.

Remove the circuit board from inside the controller.

    • 4

Push the small, yellow joystick button out of the controller.

    • 5

Slide a gray joystick button into the yellow joystick button's place. Slide the circuit board into place.

Lay the controller's back plate in position. Screw all the screws back into their holes. Replug the controller into the GameCube to play a game.
