How to Beat the First Boss in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

"The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" for the Nintendo GameCube is the first cell-shaded "Zelda" game. The "Wind Waker" brings back a familiar face for the first boss encounter: Gohma, the spider-like creature from previous "Zelda" games. The "Wind Waker's" Gohma is situated in "Dragon Roost Cavern" and inflicts pain on the dragon "Valoo." Like the previous Gohma's, the "Wind Waker" version has only one eye. The lone eye is the key to defeating Gohma and once again banishing the beast.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter Gohma's cavern to begin the battle. Dodge Gohma's initial attacks. Look up at the middle of the ceiling to spot Valoo's dangling tail.

    • 2

Shoot the tail with your grappling hook. The grappling hook will jettison you to the tail and swing you to the other side of Gohma. Let go of the grappling hook once you reach the other side. Valoo will become enraged and drop part of the ceiling on Gohma. Repeat the process three more times. Gohma will become angry and destroy her outer armor.

    • 3

Aim the grappling hook at Gohma's eye. Shooting Gohma's eye will stun Gohma and pull her to you. Slash her eye with your sword as many times as you can before she throws herself up and tries to attack you again. Repeatedly hook and slash her eye three or four more times to defeat the giant lava spider.
