How to Easily Get Emeralds in Sonic Heroes

The final stage of "Sonic Heroes" is unlocked only if you have found the seven emeralds in the even numbered stages. It is not possible to get the emeralds until one of the four character teams have completed the Final Fortress stage. Any team of characters can get the emeralds after that point. All of the emeralds are acquired in the same manner. You need to find a key in the stage to access the Special Stage. In the special stage you need to chase down the emerald to acquire it.

Instructions

Accessing the Special Stage

  Play with Team Rose. Team Rose is the best team to get emeralds with since their levels are shorter and contain fewer enemies than the other teams.

  Go to the first checkpoint in Ocean Palace (Stage 2).

  Go to the right of the staircase. There is a key locked inside a cage.

  Press the "X" or "Y" button to switch the main character to Big the Cat.

  Press "B" to punch the cage open. Touch the key to pick it up.
- 6
  Complete the rest of the stage without getting hit by a single enemy. Getting hit causes you to drop the key. You will enter the Special Stage automatically if you complete the stage with the key in your possession.

  Get the key in Power Plant (Stage 4). The key is at the beginning of the level in the group of boxes in the room where the elevator stops. For this step and all other keys, repeat steps 3 through 6 to reach the Special Stage.

  Get the key in Bingo Highway (Stage 6). The key is directly in front of the second checkpoint.

  Get the key in Bullet Station (Stage 8). The key is inside the cannon room directly after the first checkpoint.

  Go down the path in Lost Jungle (Stage 10). The key is just beyond the first set of jumping platforms.

  Get the key in Mystic Mansion (Stage 12) on a ledge by the doorway immediately after the second checkpoint. You need to use switch to Tails to fly up to this ledge.

  Go to a room past the first checkpoint in Final Fortress (Stage 14). Jump on a spring at the far end to reach the key.
Special Stage
- 13
  Press right and left on the controller to move your character in either direction. Your character automatically moves forward in the Special Stage.

  Run into the colored orbs to build up your turbo meter. Avoid the black mines that appear. Hitting these mines slow down your character.
- 15
  Press "B" when your turbo meter is full. This temporarily makes you move faster. You will need to use your turbo a few times to catch the emerald. Touch the emerald once to acquire it.
