Kirby Games for GameCube

The original Kirby's Adventure was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1993, shortly before the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) took over the market. Kirby is essentially a vacuum on legs, and was one of the first heroes ever to wield the ability to consume an enemy and gain his powers. Many critics consider the first Kirby's Adventure to be one of the best games released on the NES console, not only in terms of 8-bit graphics but game play as well.
  1. Kirby Air Ride

    • Kirby Air Ride was originally intended for the Nintendo 64 but was scrapped during development, and later released on the Nintendo GameCube. Kirby Air Ride plays similar to Mario Kart and the like, only with flying vehicles that all handle differently. The game is rated E for everyone, and has multiplayer capabilities for up to four players. One of the main draws is the game̵7;s simplicity, in that there is only one button and the analog pad. This is also one of the game̵7;s main flaws. The game is played by pressing the "A" button to slow down around corners, which is necessary for drifting around turns, though "A" is also the attack button used against other racers. The problem with the controls is that racers have to slow down to attack--sometimes considerably so. Fortunately, the game features tracks with loops, corkscrews, jumps and more, making it an excellent multiplayer game to play with friends.

    Super Smash Bros Melee

    • Super Smash Bros Melee is arguably the best Smash Bros game in the series to date, released for the Nintendo GameCube. Among the many characters available, including unlockable characters, Kirby is one of 26 classic Nintendo characters among the ranks of Link, Samus, Cloud from Final Fantasy 7, and the Super Mario Bros gang. The game is ranked as one of the greatest fighting engines for leveling the playing field for novice and expert players alike. Besides characters, the game features a number of weapons each with their own abilities that make each of the characters unique and special in his own right. The game plays like a no holds barred freestyle where not even gravity becomes a detrimental factor most of the time, though there are still levels where players must avoid falling. Besides the great multiplayer engine, the campaign game is necessary for unlocking additional players and content.

    Kirby Adventure

    • Kirby Adventure was originally announced back in 2004, and set for release in 2007. The game was later delayed and pushed back to 2008, and then 2009, before it was finally canceled. The game was set to be a remake of the original NES release with an updated fighting engine based off the Super Smash Bros Melee engine, and then rumored to include the Wii̵7;s Super Smash Bros Brawl engine. Though pictures and video were released, the game was finally canceled as a GameCube release, leaving Kirby Air Ride as the only official Kirby game released on the Nintendo GameCube.
