How to Take Apart a Gamecube Controller

The GameCube was released in 2001 and was Nintendo's fourth major console after the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Nintendo 64. The console featured games such as "Super Mario Sunshine," "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" and "Super Smash Bros. Melee." The controllers are small and have several buttons, but may easily break under stress; it's not uncommon for the wires to become loose. Luckily, if you ever need to take a peek within the controller, you can take it apart in minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the controller from a console and flip it over on a flat surface.

    • 2

Unscrew all six of the screws on the back of the controller and lift off the plastic backing, revealing the circuitry underneath. Place all of the loose screws in the cup so you don't lose them.

    • 3

Gently remove all of the circuitry with your fingers, holding it around the edges, and place it aside. The circuitry should all be connected via small wires.

    • 4

Remove all the buttons from the controller. They should pop out quite easily. You have now completely taken apart the controller. To put it back together simply follow the same steps in reverse order and screw the screws back into the controller.
