Super Smash Brothers Melee Tips

"Super Smash Bros. Melee" brought the Nintendo fighitng action of "Super Smash Bros." to the Nintendo GameCube early in the console's life cycle. "Super Smash Bros. Melee" stuck to the same basic formula as its predecessor, but added dozens of new characters, stages and power-ups, as well as a new story adventure mode and collectible trophies. You start off with limited characters and stages when you first pop in the game disc, but can unlock more as you go along.

Unlockable Characters
- If the initial 14 characters aren't enough for you, you can unlock 11 more. Note that after completing the requirement for each character, the message "New Challenger Approaching" will appear onscreen and you'll have to defeat him to finish the unlocking process. Unlock Jigglypuff by completing either single player mode on any difficulty. Unlock Young Link by completing adventure mode with 10 characters (including Link and Sheik/Zelda). Unlock Dr. Mario by playing through single player mode as Mario without using continues. Complete Event Match 29 to unlock Ganondorf. Clear Event Match 27 to unlock Pichu. Use all 14 original characters in a versus match to unlock Marth. Unlock Roy by completing classic mode without using any continues with Marth. Beat the 100-man melee to unlock Falco. Unlock Mr. Game and Watch by using all 24 other characters in any of the following modes: classic, adventure or target test. Unlock Mewtwo by racking up a total of 20 hours of playtime (you can simply leave your GameCube on overnight). Unlock Luigi by ending the first stage of adventure mode with the number "2" on the clock (for example, "1:24" or "2:30" would work). You can also unlock characters for completing a certain number of versus matches, up to 1,000.
Unlockable Stages
- Unlock four secret stages by completing 200 versus matches (you'll get a new stage every 50 matches). Randomly find the Birdo or Pidgit trophy to unlock the Mushroom Kingdom II stage. Beat classic mode with Mr. Game and Watch for the stage Superflat World: Flat Zone. Complete all-star mode with any character for the Battlefield stage. Complete all 51 event matches for the Final Destination stage. Complete target test with all 25 characters for Dream Land. Use Yoshi to score over 1,323 feet in the home-run contest for the Yoshi's Island stage. Complete 15-minute melee to unlock Kongo Jungle.
Unlockable Modes
- Clear the first 30 event matches and unlock Jigglypuff, Luigi, Dr. Mario, Falco and Young Link to unlock event matches 31 through 39. Unlock all stages and characters to unlock events 40 through 50. Unlock the final event, 51, by completing the first 50 event matches. You can also unlock the extra-challenging all-star mode by unlocking all 25 characters.
