How to Get a Shadow Lugia on Pokemon

Shadow Lugia is a powerful Pokémon available in the Nintendo GameCube game "Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness." This all-black Lugia has been corrupted and codenamed XD001 by the evil organization Cipher. You'll encounter Shadow Lugia late in the game while fighting against Cipher's leaders. Capture Shadow Lugia to make it fight on your side in the final fight against Cipher's head honcho, Grand Master Greevil.

Instructions

  Defeat Cipher Admin Eldes on Citadark Isle. Save your game and ensure you have one free space in your Pokémon party, as well as several (at least 30) Ultra Balls to capture Shadow Lugia.

  Proceed to the next room and watch the cut scene where Grand Master Greevil becomes enraged and releases Shadow Lugia at level 50.

  Use a team of level 50 (or higher) Pokémon to battle Shadow Lugia. Use "Thunder Wave" to paralyze Lugia or "Hypnosis" or "Sleep Powder" to put it to sleep. Note that putting it to sleep will be more effective, but paralysis lasts longer.

  Use an Ultra Ball once Shadow Lugia's health is in the red. Continue using Ultra Balls until you successfully capture the Pokémon. Note that it may take all 30 of your Ultra Balls, even if Shadow Lugia is asleep and in the red.
