How Do You Unlock Luigi in Super Smash Brothers Melee?

Super Smash Bros. Melee is the GameCube entry in the popular fighting series. Along with having more worlds and moves than the first game, Melee also has more unlockable characters. While Mario is available to play from the beginning, Luigi is not. You can unlock the green-clad plumber by playing adventure mode or doing 800 versus matches in single or multiplayer mode.

Instructions

Adventure Mode

  Finish the Mushroom Kingdom side-scrolling level by jumping and touching the flag. Make sure the time you hit the flag has a "2" in the seconds meter, such as 00:02:00.

  Complete Adventure Mode. At the end, Luigi will challenge you to a fight.

  Defeat Luigi to unlock him.
Versus Battles
- 4
  Play 800 versus battles in single-player or multiplayer mode. At the end of the 800th battle, Luigi will challenge the winner to a fight.

  Fight Luigi.
- 6
  Defeat Luigi to unlock him as a character.
