"Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut"
Originally titled "Sonic Adventure" on the Dreamcast, this installation in the Sonic the Hedgehog series was the first one to make the jump to full 3-D gameplay. You have a choice of six characters: Sonic himself; Knuckles the Echidna; Miles "Tails" Prower, Sonic's ally from the Genesis games; Amy, Sonic's love interest; Big the Cat; and Gamma, a robot who serves Dr. Robotnik. Each character in "Sonic Adventure DX" has different objectives to get through their levels. On the GameCube, according to GameSpot's GameFAQs, you can unlock the 12 Sonic games that were once available on Sega's Game Gear portable console.
"Sonic Adventure 2: Battle"
This sequel to "Sonic Adventure" added two new playable characters to your roster--Shadow the Hedgehog and Rouge the Bat. You alternate playing in two separate storylines, one for both teams of characters. In the "Hero" storyline, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles must stop Robotnik from getting the Chaos Emeralds. In the "Dark" storyline, Shadow, Eggman--Robotnik's alternate name--and Rouge have to get the Emeralds. The GameCube version of the game allows you to play against another player in go-kart racing battles or gladiator battles with creatures known as Chaos.
"Sonic Heroes"
"Sonic Heroes" provides you with even more characters. You have the choice to play on one of four teams, each with three characters geared to speed, power and flight. For example, on the Sonic team, you have Sonic, who uses speed; Tails, who uses flight; and Knuckles, who uses power, according to Gamespot. "Sonic Heroes" drops most of the adventure elements such as combat and exploration. Instead, this game returns to the roots of Sonic--speed. Although combat does occur in the game, it's far less frequent.
