How to Get in the Furnace in Metroid Prime

"Metroid Prime" is the first entry in the "Prime" spin-off series of the "Metroid" franchise. The game was developed by the first-party Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for their GameCube video game console on November 17, 2002 to much critical acclaim. The game abandoned the series' traditional side-scrolling roots in favor of a first-person perspective but retained a heavy emphasis on exploration and the upgrading of main character Samus Aran's weapons and abilities. "Metroid Prime" features many immersive environments, including the furnace found in the Chozo Ruins.

Instructions

      Scan the elevator to Chozo Ruins South by using the Scan Visor and walk onto it to activate it. Consult your map by pressing the "Z" button once the elevator has come to a stop. If you have been through Chozo Ruins South before, many of the rooms will be named. These rooms will appear a translucent orange color.

      Take the small pathway from the elevator room to the Reflecting Pool. It is a linear, winding pathway with no enemies or items. Open the door at the end of the pathway by firing Samus' Ice Beam. Step through the doorway to enter the Reflecting Pool, an expansive, two-storied room with a total of four exits.

      Continue straight to reach the door on the opposite end of the Reflecting Pool. This leads to another narrow, winding pathway that contains nothing of note. Shoot the door with Samus' Power Beam to enter the Hall of the Elders. Immediately utilize the Morph Ball ability and roll toward the track along the wall. Use a bomb to make your way into the opening of the track. Roll straight to the end of the track and out of the opened area and fall downward.

      Walk forward and jump onto the ledge to the left and past the small circular vent in the wall. Switch to the X-Ray Visor and prepare to fight several ghost Space Pirates. Avoid being hit by strafing and jumping while locking onto a single enemy. Fire the Power Beam repeatedly and use missiles to deal greater damage. After the Space Pirates have been defeated, enter the now-opened vent in the wall and approach the console to receive a missile upgrade.

      Return to the room on the other side of the vent and exit it through the door on the opposite side of the Hall of the Elders. Walk through another narrow hallway to enter the Furnace. Fight more ghost Space Pirates using the same tactics. Bomb the crack in the floor to reveal a halfpipe. Continue moving back and forth within the halfpipe until you gain enough air to reach the spider track. Follow the track upward and avoid the beetles. Fall downward at the first available opportunity and roll along the track. Continue falling onto every new track and follow it upward to receive another missile expansion.
