How to Raise Your Chao in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle

Sonic may be out to defeat the evil Eggman in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the GameCube, but that doesn't mean the speedy hedgehog can't take time to play the role of a parent. During the course of the game, you will unlock the Chao Garden where you can raise baby Chao to compete in races as well as act as virtual pets. Bringing the right items to your Chao will ensure it grow up happy, while two Chao can become parents of additional creatures.

Instructions

  Travel to the Chao Garden. Once you've entered the area Sonic will come across two Chao eggs. Choose whichever one you'd like to raise, there is no difference, and pick it up by pressing "B" when you are near it.

  Hold down "B" after you have picked up the egg and Sonic will move the egg back and forth. Release the button and Sonic will put the egg down which will cause a Chao to hatch.

  Shake the trees in the garden by pressing "B" to cause fruit to fall onto the ground. Pick up the fruit and take it over to your newly hatched Chao. Feeding your Chao will increase its stamina and allow for a healthier, happier pet.

  Venture out into the rest of the game world and locate animals. These creatures will be found when you destroy any of Eggman's robots in each area in Sonic Adventure Battle 2. Pick them up and return to the Chao Garden. When your Chao sees the animal, it will take on the features of the animal and gain a stat boost.

  Note the icons that appear over your Chao as these are indicative of its mood. A halo means your Chao is in a calm mood while a heart indicates your Chao is happy. If a swirl appears over your Chaoi it is indicating the Chaoi is tired, allow it to sleep.

  Boost the stats of your Chao to allow him to win more races. Its running stat is increased by finding green choas drives and animals. Boost the swimming stat with yellow drives and animals, power with red, and flight with purple.

  Evolve your Chao by giving him several animals and chaos drives. Once the Chao has been given enough, it will form a cocoon and transform into an adult. Giving your Chao only one colored item will result in the Chao specializing in that stat.

  Race your Chao in the "Racing" section of the Chao Garden. Victory during these events will win toys to keep your Chao happy as well as Chao Emblems to add to your collection.

  Repeat the Chao raising process with the second egg in your Chao garden so that you eventually have two adult Chao. When you place them side by side, they will enter the mating stage and produce a new Chao egg.

  Treat your Chao with kindness and as it grows old and dies, it will leave you an egg with a new Chao. This creature will have the same name as the deceased Chao and start with an extra boost to its stats.
