Not Saving
Make sure you buy memory cards that are licensed, as some unlicensed cards may not be fully compatible with the Gamecube. If you are having save issues, try inserting the card into slot "A" and inserting a game into the system. Access the memory card menu by holding down the "A" button. If you are asked to format the card, that means it has been corrupted. You will have to format the card and lose all of your saved data. To prevent corruption, do not remove the memory card or turn the system off while the card is performing functions such as saving or copying files.
Memory Card 1019
This card has four times the storage capacity of older memory cards, and some older games have some issues with the new technology. The list of incompatible games includes "Backyard Football," "Sonic Adventure 2 Battle," "Darkened Skye," "WTA Tour Tennis," "Disney Sports: Skateboarding" and "Disney Sports: Soccer." It's recommended you not use the 1019 memory card when playing these games.
Data Area Only Corrupt
You will receive this error message when playing a game if a certain file on the memory card (rather than the entire memory card) is corrupt. You can erase the one file rather than format the entire memory card, saving your other game files.
Damaged Card
If the memory card is physically damaged, you will receive this error message. The card cannot be formatted and game data cannot be recovered. You will have to replace the card.
Moving Files
If you run out of room on one memory card, you can move files to a second memory card with both inserted into the Gamecube. Highlight the file you want to move and press "A." Select "Move" and press "A" again. Confirm your choice by selecting "Yes" and hitting "A" again. The file will then automatically move to the other memory card.
