Methods for Playing GameCube on a PC Monitor

Many people would like to use their video game consoles without having to purchase an expensive television monitor. If your budget is tight, a PC monitor may be the best available option for you to enjoy your video games on. This article will teach you what you need in order to use your PC monitor with your gaming console.
  1. Find the Right Monitor

    • The ideal monitor will have an S-video composite input, which supports the standard input cable that's packaged with the GameCube. If you already own a monitor and it doesn't have an S-video composite input, you're dealing with a VGA input, in which case you'll have to buy a VGA adapter.

    VGA Adaptors

    • Your VGA adapter should support the standard AV cable which comes packaged with the GameCube. That basically means it should have three holes with colors matching your cable's inputs--yellow, red and white. When using this method, you may need to initially adjust your visual settings on the monitor for better quality.

    Basic Setup

    • You should now either have a PC monitor with an S-video composite input or a VGA input. If your monitor has an S-video composite input, simply plug your GameCube's AV cable into the monitor directly, inserting each colored input into the corresponding colored hole. If you have a VGA input instead, you'll need to connect the AV cable to your VGA adapter in the same way you would an S-video composite input, and then connect the VGA adapter to the PC monitor. If this doesn't work, check that there are no loose wires and that your adapter is functioning properly. Then reconnect everything.
