Virtual Console
Owners of the Wii are able to connect to the Internet and purchase games that had once been available only on older systems, such as Nintendo's own NES or Super Nintendo, or other brands like NEOGEO or Sega Genesis, allowing players to enjoy classic games on their Wii. However, as of yet there are no GameCube games available for purchase.
Backward Compatibility
Luckily, the Wii is backwards compatible, which is what it's called when a new piece of technology is able to successfully work with earlier versions. In this case, it means that the Wii, though a newer piece of equipment, is able to play all GameCube discs.
The Discs
The GameCube discs are small compared to the size of the Wii game discs, but they fit into the Wii system without any issues.
Memory Card
Two memory card slots can be found beneath the slot cover. The GameCube memory card is inserted with the label facing toward the top or right side of the Wii console.
Controller
Controller sockets are located beneath the memory card slot, with Player One being nearest the power button.
