Instructions
Insert the Animal Crossing game disc into your Nintendo GameCube. To save a game in progress with any changes and additions, designate a memory card for the game and insert it into "Slot A." Turn the power on and press "Start" on the main screen.
Ride the train into town. While traveling, you're going to have the opportunity to talk to "Rover," the game's guide. If this is your first time playing Animal Crossing, set your clock to your local time and name your town and character. If you're returning to your town, follow the prompts and select your character.
Use your controller in town, either indoors or outdoors, to control your character and his actions. Standard controls are essential in making your way around Animal Crossing and interacting with the other animals. Tilt the control stick to walk around town.
Ask other animals for guidance. When you're facing another character, press the "A" button to talk to her. She can provide you with valuable information, such as how to make money, sell items, events that are pending and basic town news. You can also read the town's "bulletin board" for updates.
Visit "Tom Nook's Store," where you can buy and sell items. In Animal Crossing, you earn your money by doing odd jobs, such as fishing and gathering bugs for the museum. Earn as much money as you can to buy nice things for your house and pay off your current home to upgrade to a better residence.
Tour around town. Your town contains many businesses, including a post office, a tailor, a police station and a museum. You'll also see other houses, parks and a wishing well.
Save your game by talking to the fire hydrant--also known as a Gyroid--in front of your home. You have the option to "Save and Quit" or "Save and Continue." After you make a change to your town, you want to "Save and Continue" before moving onto your next task.
Practice your Animal Crossing game play. Each time you visit your town, your character will gain new friends. You need to play regularly to keep your town in clean condition and maintain order.
