The touch-screen functionality of Nintendo's DS series of devices makes them very user-friendly. However, if you find the touch screen on your DS lighting up but not otherwise functioning, you need to recalibrate the touch screen. Note that third-party screen protectors can occasionally affect the functionality of the touch screen, so remove any screen protectors installed on the device and verify that the screen remains nonfunctional before performing the recalibration.
