How to Convert ZSNES Code to Hex

ZSNES is a free Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) emulator created for x86 operating systems. Windows, Linux and Mac OS X are all supported and the software was even ported to the Xbox. SNES codes are used in Game Genie, a cheat system for Nintendo consoles, to manipulate game data and enable the player to cheat. There are many websites that provide Game Genie codes for various games, but none of them are in hex format. Fortunately, there is one tool designed that can convert them to hex.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your favorite Web browser and navigate to the AngelFire website (link in Resources) and click on the "Download" link. The Download section of the website contains lots of useful tools, including an old but still working tool that converts ZSNES codes to hex.

    • 2

Click on the "Download GG to hex conversion program" link to start downloading the tool. Select a folder to save the tool in and click on the "OK" button to download it.

    • 3

Right-click on the "ggconvc.zip" file you just downloaded and select the "Extract All" option from the drop-down menu. Select a folder to extract the contents of the archive in and click on the "Extract" button. A file named "GGConvC.exe" is created.

    • 4

Double-click on the "GGConvC.exe" file to start the tool. Click on the "SNES" button to convert SNES codes. Note that ZSNES is just a SNES emulator, so SNES codes work in ZSNES.

    • 5

Type the code in the two "GG Code" text boxes. The first four characters go into the first box and the last four characters go into the second box. The code is automatically converted to hex and displayed in the "Hex Code" text box.
