"Animal Crossing: Wild World"
"Animal Crossing: Wild World," the second game in the "Animal Crossing" series, was released for the Nintendo DS in 2005. In "Animal Crossing: Wild World," you are a new resident to a village that is home to a varying number of anthropomorphic animals. You are free to do whatever you like in the village, such as perform errands for your neighbors, collect fossils or go fishing. In "Animal Crossing: Wild World," the time in the game is the same as real time. For example, if you play the game on Dec. 30 at 8 p.m., it is the same date and time in the game as well, thanks to the Nintendo DS's internal clock.
Fishing
Fishing is one of the many activities you can do while playing "Animal Crossing: Wild World." A fishing rod can be bought from Tom Nook's store at any time and can be used in any body of water in the village, such as the ocean, a river or a lake. The act of fishing is simple; cast your line at the shadow of a fish in the water, and press "A" on the Nintendo DS when the water splashes once the fish has been hooked. There are more than 40 fish to catch in "Wild World," and each fish has a particular time of day and date that they can be caught.
Salmon
In the list of fish you have caught, the fish after the Stringfish is the Salmon. This fish can only be caught during the month of September -- and only when fishing in the river. In addition, a Salmon can be caught at any time of day, whether it is morning, afternoon or night, and it is a very common type of fish to catch. Once caught, the Salmon can be donated to the museum for free or sold to Tom Nook for 700 bells, the form of currency in "Animal Crossing: Wild World."
Rewards for Fishing
There are two rewards for fishing. The first is selling the fish to Tom Nook, which provides an immediate reward in the form of bells. The second reward is more time consuming; you must donate one of each type of fish to the museum. Once this is complete, you are awarded the golden fishing rod for your accomplishment. The golden fishing rod is no different from your standard fishing rod other than the golden color; it is merely a cosmetic reward to show your accomplishment to your friends.
