How to Upgrade the House in John Deere: Harvest in the Heartland for the Nintendo DS

"John Deere: Harvest in the Heartland" is a farming simulation game for the Nintendo DS that gives players the chance to create their own farm by utilizing the system's touch screen interface to plant crops and raise animals. Your virtual farmhouse is where your character sleeps each night and has the ability to be upgraded, along with the rest of your farm. Upgrades require no work on your behalf; however, you must have enough money saved up to afford hiring a contractor.

Instructions

    • 1

Sell items from your farm to earn money. These items include crops you have harvested, livestock or animal products such as eggs and milk. Take these goods to the market in town to earn money.

    • 2

Purchase home upgrades from the real estate office in town when you have earned enough money to afford them.

    • 3

Buy decorative items, such as a lawn flamingo or a John Deere statue, from the different stores in town to add further customization to your home. Once you have purchased a decorative item, open the inventory screen by pressing the "X" button to access it and use the directional pad or stylus to place the item where you want it.
