How to Get the Golden Wheels on Mater-National for the DS

"Cars: Mater-National Championship" is a race game fashioned after the "Cars" animated movie and made for the Nintendo DS game system. Although designed for younger children, it has many race car game features that older gamers also enjoy. The objective is to choose one of 10 vehicles available and use your driving skills to out-race all the other cars. Players who win races consistently are invited to the challenge of earning a golden wheel.

Instructions

  Start the game, choose a car and a traditional track. Each time you win at a track you earn a certain number of stars. By winning or placing within the first three positions, you unlock new tracks to choose from and progress through the game.

  Play several of the tracks until you complete them and win first position several times so the gold wheel challenge appears for you. Gold wheels are placed along the shortcuts that steer off the racetrack.

  Look for clues to special shortcuts along the track as you go around the track (the shortcuts are subtly marked), but if you do not see one you can touch the screen where it says "map" to show the stretch of the track and demonstrate the shortcut path. Finding these shortcuts can be slightly challenging as you often have to drive through a tall stand of grass or jump through a waterfall to get to one.

  Drive around the obstacles once you get on the shortcut. Perform special stunts and finish a section of the secret path to earn the golden wheel. These stunts and obstacles vary depending on the racetrack you are playing.

  Enter the Cheat Codes section to open all the races, if you want immediate access to the tracks with shortcuts and golden wheels. Select ̶0;Options̶1; from the top of the main window and select ̶0;Cheat Codes.̶1; Type in ̶0;PLAYALL̶1; to unlock all the races, story modes and mini-games and get immediate access to all of them including those that have the golden wheel. Once on the track that has a golden wheel, find the shortcut to the golden wheel behind a tall stand of grass, bush or waterfall.
