What Happens During the Tournament in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller?

Play the 2007 Nintendo DS game "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Spirit Caller" to step into the shoes of a student at Duel Academy. Design and name an avatar who will duel against and fight alongside characters like Jaden Yuki and Zane Truesdale. The ultimate battle of the game takes place during the school tournament arc. To complete the game main story of the game, you must win this tournament.
  1. Tournament Objective

    • The school tournament is the last chapter of the "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Spirit Caller" storyline. After you beat Aster Phoenix in the Red Dorm, the "Dark Zane Saga and the School Tournament" chapter begins. Your teachers will tell you in class that they're holding a school tournament in which the upperclassmen will coach the underclassmen via duels. Guests from outside of the school will also appear in the duels. On the surface, your goal is to win the tournament, even though you are an underclassman. However, more troubling is news that Zane Truesdale, your rival and the number one duelist in the school, went missing right before the tournament.

    Investigating Zane's Disappearance

    • While the rest of the school starts preparing for and participating in tournament duels, you'll try to uncover what has happened to Zane. You hear that Zane is on an island and is acting odd. You get on a boat at the campus dock and head to the volcano island, where you encounter Zane, who has been possessed by a dark spirit. You must battle him in a Shadow Game of cards and win in order to continue on to the tournament. However, Zane will not appear in the tournament. After he loses to you, he will leave the island and say he will return. He does not appear again in the game.

    The Tournament

    • After you return from the island and the duel with Zane, you must go to bed and sleep in your dorm. The following day, you can see the tournament in action at the Duel Field on campus. Duel against Aster Phoenix and Jaden Yuki to win the tournament and finish the game. This is the first time you get to duel Jaden, the hero of the "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX" series. Aster fights with a Destiny Heroes deck and Jaden battles with a Elemental Heroes deck.

    Unlock Bonuses

    • Although the school tournament is the last duel of the game's storyline, you can continue to play after you win the tournament if you like. You automatically unlock the ability to duel Chumly for the first time and Tyranno for the fourth time after you complete the tournament. Look for Chumly in the Red Dorm and Tyranno outside of the Red Dorm. You will have battled Tyranno three times through the course of the story prior to this bonus duel.
